What a website really costs in Serbia - and what drives the price

Pricing isn't guesswork - it depends on six measurable factors. Here's how to tell if an offer is fair, inflated, or suspiciously cheap.

What a website really costs in Serbia - and what drives the price

If you typed this question into Google, you've probably already seen everything from "a website for €50" to quotes in the thousands - with zero explanation for the gap. No wonder it feels like guessing.

The truth is simpler than it looks: website pricing isn't arbitrary. It depends on concrete, measurable factors - and once you understand them, you can judge whether an offer is realistic, padded, or suspiciously cheap.

Why there isn't one price for "building a website"

A "website" isn't a single product. A one-purpose landing page and an online store with 500 products and fiscalization are, technically, two completely different projects - even if you call both by the same word. That's why any serious agency asks what the site needs to do before they give you a number.

Six factors that actually set the price

1. Number and type of pages

A landing page with one goal (collecting inquiries) is the simplest and cheapest project type. A corporate site with 6-10 pages (services, about, portfolio, contact) sits in the middle. A complex platform with user accounts, bookings, or custom flows is something else entirely - and that's where price climbs the most.

2. Custom design vs. a ready-made template

A template is faster and cheaper, but it looks like ten other sites in your industry. Bespoke design (wireframe → visual design → build) takes longer and costs more, but it creates the difference a visitor notices in the first three seconds - often the difference between "looks serious" and "looks like everyone else".

3. Functionality

Online booking, a cart and payments for ecommerce, fiscal register or ERP integrations, category filters - each of these is its own development task, not a checkbox option.

4. Content and copywriting

If you write the site copy yourself, the price is lower. If the agency needs to research your industry, write copy that sells (not just describes), and optimize it for search, that work has its own price - and it usually pays off, because weak copy kills conversion and SEO no matter how good the design is.

5. Technical SEO foundations

A site built from day one with sound structure, fast loading, and mobile optimization is cheaper to build now than to fix later. Agencies that skip this to lower the quote are effectively selling you a future cost, not a saving.

6. Support after launch

A "we ship and disappear" site is cheaper on paper. But every site needs updates, small changes, and support - the only question is whether you pay for that up front through a clear agreement, or later at urgent (and higher) rates.

Ballpark ranges (and why they're only ballparks)

Without seeing your actual requirements, any number someone quotes you upfront is a guess. What you can realistically expect:

  • Landing page - lowest budget, shorter timeline (usually 1-2 weeks).
  • Mid-size corporate site - mid-range budget, longer process (design, build, content, testing).
  • Online store or platform with advanced features - widest range, because it depends directly on how many features you need.

What should worry you isn't a high price - it's a price that can't be explained. If an agency can't tell you why their number is what it is, that's a bigger red flag than the figure itself.

How we approach pricing

We don't publish a price list because it would be wrong for 90% of the inquiries we get - every project combines the six factors above differently. Instead, the first step is a free 30-minute consultation focused on the goal, not features - and after that you get a written proposal with clear scope, timeline, and price. No fine print and no hidden costs.
